Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Secretary General, ladies and gentlemen and gentlemen, I am the first as the 44th President of the United States address. (Applause) I stand before you humbled by the responsibility that the American people have placed in me aware of the enormous challenges of our time in history, and decided to act with courage and together in the name of justice and prosperity at homeand abroad. I am in office only nine months - although some days it seems much longer. I know that come with the expectations of my presidency of the world. These expectations are not around me. Rather, they are related, I think, a dissatisfaction with the status quo, which allows us to be more and more of our differences and overcome our problems. But they are also rooted in hope - hope that change is possible, and hope that America is ainitiate the change. I took office at the time were many around the world are watching America with skepticism and distrust. Part of this is due to misperceptions and misinformation about my country. Part of this was due to opposition from some policy areas, and the belief that in certain critical aspects that the U.S. unilaterally, without considering that he acted in the interests of others. And this is an almost reflexive anti-Americanism that so often been used as an excuse for food...
